WHW with Bourne Coffee Company (pre the walk)

WHW with Bourne Coffee Company (pre the walk)

To promote my blog I have recently set up a Facebook account, if you would like updates on my blog then please send me a friends request.

It started last November when Anne reminded me that originally we had talked about doing the West Highland Way together, rather than on my own as I did in 2009.  See My Best Birthday Present Ever, earlier posts in this blog if you are interested.

I knew that David had previously attempted to do The Way and he was wanting to complete it some time so it made sense to me to try and plan that we all do it together.  They had both appeared to have enjoyed themselves on the 3 Peaks I had previously organised, again see another previous posts in this blog, so why not.

It took a little organising all our diaries to find a date that would suit us all but eventually dates were decided.  I could then set about planning the walk in the five days we had agreed it would take.  Having completed The Way previously I had a fairly good idea how to make it work.

As usual I planned a couple of options that would work and would provide us with some flexibility.  However there was something that could have affected the plan which I did not take into account.  This was that my car broke down on the Friday night before David and Susan arrived.  So I was in a little bit of a panic as to what we would do if stuck with one car, especially with all the kit and equipment.

West Highland Way. 95 miles. (It is now 96 miles with the new finish at the far end of Fort William High Street).
If including Ben Lomond 7 ½ total 102 ½ miles.
If also including Ben Nevis total 114 miles.

Pre the Walk
David would need to confirm Susan would be happy to drive.  To be our support.  Depending on the size of the car I may have need to return to the start of each days walk with Susan to collect my car with kit and tent.
