Aschau to Kitzbuhel via Kirchberg in Tirol
Austria
Distance 15.5km
Sunday 12th August 2012
Most days Klaus and Veronika of the Hotel Edelweiss showed a gentle walk on their menu cards and today we had decided to do one of the walks. After preparing our packed lunches and changing into our walking clothes we set off for the bus. The bus for Aschau was the 09.44 at the bottom of the Hahnenkamm, next to the train station. As we were leaving the hotel we saw a black squirrel jumping across the road.
At Aschau it took us a couple of minutes to find the route back. Anyway once we found it we soon set off, the sun was shinning and although early it was very hot. The route is North and straight forward, about 2km from the village it drops down next to the river and then follows it into Kirchberg in Tirol.

After passing the bottom of the Gaisberg chair lift we soon arrived in Kirchberg in Tirol 837m. Most of the cafes and shops where closed so after having a quick look around we started looking for a seat to sit on and have our sandwiches. This was when Anne saw another snake that just slide passed her a few inches from her foot. You could have heard the scream in Kitzbuhel.

Anyway we found a seat near the church in the shade and had our sandwiches. This was when I found I had put sugar on my tomato sandwiches instead of salt. They still tasted nice though and I still ate them.

It did not take us long to reach the golf course and we followed the path back passed Schwarzsee back into Kitzbuhel,. The same way we walked the previous Thursday.
