Carnedd Llewelyn Expedition Day 1 - Snowdonia 19 June 2014.

Carnedd Llewelyn Expedition Day 1
Grid SH 687 603 to SH678 692
Snowdonia
Distance 11km Climb 1050m
Thursday 19 June 2014

Today was the start of a two day expedition and we started from Grid SH 687 603 which is a track junction on the A5 at a height of 280m.

We headed north west along the track to Flynnon Llugwy Reservoir, which started a gentle climb.

We took the footpath on the east side of Flynnon Llugwy Reservoir, which continued to climb.

The climb continued as we took the path steeply up to Pen yr Helgi Du at 833m. Where we had a short rest.

The climb continue north west up to Carnedd Llewelyn at 1064m.

On our way up Carnedd Llewelyn we saw a RAF helicopter which had been called in to help a walker who had had a heart attack.  The next day I saw a newspaper article that showed the walker had been there over night.

We continued north as the path dropped then climbed to Foel Grach 976m. We could see low cloud starting to drift across the tops.

The path turned north again before turning north west.

At a point between Bera Bach and Yr Aryg I navigated and led us northwards down hill to a waterfall in area of Grid SH 678 692.  This was where we met up with the other group and where we wild camped for the night.
Hey Jase look left Van looking good

The great guys

We had covered approx 11km with a climb of approx 1050m.  It had been another brilliant day walking.
